North Shore Family Day

Today, we went on an excursion to the North Shore. More specifically- Shark's Cove and Waimea Bay. Like always when we go to Shark's Cove, it is a requirement for the boys to jump off the rock. Unfortunately, they didn't jump off Waimea. A first, though, was that for dinner we went to Jameson's By the Sea. I had the garden burger. Mmmmm, was it good.

I've noticed that in most pictures I take, Thing 1 is the 'model. Thing 2 doesn't like being in my pictures (strangely). So, Thing 1 is his replacement.
So...the story behind this picture. Before I started taking pics of Thing 2 flipping, he was 'whaling'-jumping and sliding down the berm on his stomach. I, then, proceeded to take pictures of the 'whale,' but right when I lined up to take the shot, he started doing a back flip. Hence, I didn't catch the whole flip.

At first, Dad didn't want to do this, but with a little poking and prodding from Thing 2, this picture is here.

I Have A Confession

For the past year that Thing 1 has had his driver's licence, I haven't been the best supporter.... As his little sister, I'm usually a backseat driver(even though I personally have never driven a car). Although he does occasionally make mistakes, he is a very good driver. I just feel like I have to get all the teasing out before he goes away... forever! :'-(

1..2..3...BREAK!

Some people think that as homeschoolers, either 1) we do nothing all day, or 2) our parents push us really hard to become 13-year old geniuses. Our family is in the middle. We try do do our best in all that we do, but we also take breaks to cool off our brains :)

Since Thing 1 is leaving in August for college (he decided on Corban University in Oregon!!), he wanted to get a lot of hiking in before the school-craze starts up again.

MONDAY: Thing 1 & 3 went exploring in Makakilo(Bald Mountain)

TUESDAY: Koko Head Hike

WEDNESDAY: Chinaman's Hat Hike

THURSDAY: Makapu'u Lighthouse Hike

FRIDAY- SUNDAY: REST!

Matthew 11:28 “[Jesus said,]Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Book Review: Fahrenheit 451

Sad. A world without books. A world in which books are burnt until there are only ashes left. I don't know if I'd be like Guy Montag and keep banned books or stay quiet. What would you do??

Two-in-One!

Okay, so now you might be thinking..... what 2-in-1?? Well, I am going to answer that question right now. Right here. Right at this moment. Right..........now. 2-in-1 === 2 days-in-1 post!! Since yesterday was my Dad's ____th birthday(!!) and today is Thanksgiving Day, I decided to put them both in one post. So, 1) Happy Birthday Dad! and 2) Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!

I am thankful for so many things, but most of all I am thankful for the One True God! He is the One I give praise to! Give thanks to the Lord, Our God and King. His love endures forever!

Every year for thanksgiving, we go to a large family party in Hawaii Kai. We swim in a pool, eat until we're tired(the Polynesian way :) ), and have fun together.

What do you do for Thanksgiving?

Although, Thanksgiving is widely considered an American holiday, it is also celebrated on the second Monday in October in Canada.

This Is My Birthday Song, It Isn't Very Long. Hey! :D

In a couple of hours, I will be __!!!!!!! I am so happy! In our family, your birthday means one week of NO chores and no school. I still have school(Hawaiian History), but only because my Mom is the teacher and class is held at our house. :) After class, though, we are going to be having a PARTY!!! We'll play board games, eat popcorn and drink hot cocoa, maybe watch a movie, go the park, and just have FUN!

I am very thankful for my parents who brought me into this beautiful world and love me. They have taught me so much on how to love God and to follow in His footsteps and I am grateful to have them as my Father and Mother. I am thankful for my brothers, who, yes may be crazy, but I love them all the same. They are my walking joke book, my 24/7 theatre production, my confidants, my loving, silly brothers. :) Thank you Lord for choosing my family to be MY family!

I am thankful for my friends, who are my non-blood family. They encourage me, bring me out of my shell, and teach me how to be a "sister." They are my role models on how to treat my family right (as well as to my friends). I love how God brings people that are so different close together :) Thank you Lord for bringing godly friends into my life!

Most of all I am thankful for God who created me (Psalm 139:13)and knows me (Jeremiah 1:5). Who died for me (John 3:16) and watches over me (Psalm 121:5). Who loves me (John 3:16) and sings over me (Zephaniah 3:17).

Sing praises to the L-RD, for He is worthy of our praise! Thank you Lord for giving me life and for keeping me safe all these years. You are my Father and I look to You in all things! Shout to the Lord! All the earth let us sing. Power and majesty. praise to our King! Mountains bow down and the seas will roar at the sound of Your name! I sing for joy at the works of Your hands. Forever I'll love you, Forever I'll stand. Nothing compares to the promise I have in You!!!! Love, Your daughter <3

Lemon Angel Food Cake

For a little less than a year, I have been having this yearning to bake new things. So, I started my journey and made a lemon angel food cake. It was pretty exciting and interesting at the same time. Interesting, because I (or Mom) have never made an angel food cake.

Of course, Mom knew the fundamental baking skills to make it (being the AWESOME baker that she is ) . But, I, (wanting to try something new on my own) wanted to be a *big girl baker* and make it by myself. :-) Let me just say that Mom had to come in the kitchen and help me with a lot of it! Now I know how to make an angel food cake! Yay, one step closer in my baking adventure!

If you want to make this delectable desert, here is the website I used to make this cake: http://www.motherthyme.com/2012/05/lemon-angel-food-cake.html
